National Doughnut Day just got Interesting
with a spicy Fresh Chilli Jam filling

Each year, on the first Friday in June (5th June 2026), sensible people everywhere celebrate one of life’s greatest pleasures: the humble doughnut. With nearly three in ten Brits naming doughnuts as their favourite sweet treat, the classic jam doughnut still reigns supreme , with 51% choosing it as the nation’s number one filling, closely followed by custard.
But one of Britain’s best-loved snacks has just had a bold new glow -up with Tracklements Fresh Chilli Jam
Perfect for those moments when you’re craving a little excitement at the weekend, a midweek pick-me-up, or a cheeky nibble with a twist, this is comfort food with added kick. Think soft, sweet, pillowy dough paired with the unexpected warmth of chilli jam - it’s a delicious balance of heat and indulgence that proves there’s never a wrong time to turn up the heat.
Serves: 8
Prep: 2 hours (including proving time)
Cook: 20 mins
Ingredients:
225g Strong white bread flour
½ tsp Salt
1 tbsp Golden caster sugar
15g Butter, unsalted and melted
7g Fast action yeast
125ml Warm water
1 Egg
Vegetable oil for frying
210g Ja r Tracklements Fresh Chilli Jam
Caster sugar for coating
Method:
Place all the ingredients except the oil, Fresh Chilli Jam and sugar for coating in a large bowl, mix and knead for 10 mins
Cut the dough into eight and shape into balls. Leave to prove on a greased tray until doubled in size
Heat the oil in a pan to a medium heat. Deep fry the doughnuts until golden brown, drain and toss in sugar
When the doughnuts are cool, place the Fresh Chilli Jam in a piping bag. Make a small hole in the side of each doughnut, fill with the jam
